Linda Willtrout, b. 1947
The work of Linda Willtrout brings together the action of her process and the poetic subject matter of nature in motion. Like a dance troupe of flowers moving in the wind, Linda’s work reflects the inspiration of nature and the struggle to stay the course of moving against the wind. As a child Linda developed a condition (Pertussis) that would impact her development and leave her unable to speak or walk for some time. After years of being institutionalized, Linda came to live in a group home. An acute sense of her surrounding often makes it difficult for her to manage changes in her immediate environment. She navigates her surroundings by trying to block out excessive stimulation and through mimicking the sounds of birds and other animals.
